Professional concrete slabs for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

What We Mean by Concrete Slabs and Flatwork

Professional concrete crew pouring large slab for commercial project in Torrington, CT

Concrete flatwork covers any horizontal concrete surface. This includes garage floors, shed pads, barn floors, equipment pads, workshop floors, and commercial floors. Basically, if you need a solid, level concrete surface for a structure or equipment, that is what we do.

We have been pouring slabs in Torrington since 2024 for everything from small residential shed pads to large commercial warehouse floors. Every project gets the same attention to proper base preparation, reinforcement, and finishing. When you work with BravoLine Torrington Concrete Works, you get slabs built to handle the load and last for decades.

Common Slab Applications We Handle

Different projects need different approaches. A garage floor needs to handle vehicle weight and resist oil stains. A barn floor needs proper drainage and a textured finish for animal traction. An equipment pad needs to be perfectly level and thick enough for heavy machinery.

We regularly install slabs for:

  • Garage floors (attached and detached)
  • Shed and storage building pads
  • Workshop and pole barn floors
  • Equipment pads for HVAC units, generators, and machinery
  • Commercial warehouse and shop floors
  • Agricultural barn and livestock facility floors

How We Build Durable Concrete Slabs

Finished concrete slab with smooth professional finish in Torrington, CT

A concrete slab is only as good as what is underneath it. We start by excavating to the proper depth, then compact the subgrade until it is solid. Next comes a layer of gravel that provides drainage and prevents the slab from settling unevenly.

For residential slabs, we typically pour 4 inches thick with wire mesh reinforcement. For heavier loads like vehicle traffic or equipment, we go to 6 inches and use rebar on a grid pattern. Commercial and industrial slabs often require even greater thickness and reinforcement based on the intended use and local building codes.

We also pay attention to slope and drainage. Even interior slabs need proper grading to prevent water accumulation. For garage floors, we create a slight slope toward the door. For exterior slabs, we ensure water drains away from structures. These details matter for long-term performance.

Finishing Options for Different Uses

The finish you choose depends on how you will use the slab. Smooth trowel finishes work well for interior spaces where you want a clean look that is easy to sweep. Broom finishes provide more traction for areas that might get wet. For heavy-duty applications, we can add a hardener to the surface that increases abrasion resistance.

If you are building a garage and want it to look as good as your driveway, we can coordinate finishes so everything matches. For shops and workshops, we can help you choose a finish that balances appearance with functionality.
